ABOUT US
In 2020, our founder, Heidi Breeding, felt called by God to create an organization dedicated to
helping homeowners repair and restore their houses to a livable state. While many groups were
already focused on building new homes for families in need, Heidi saw a different gap in her
community—families were struggling to maintain and repair the homes they already lived in. She
envisioned a way to help people preserve the value of their homes without losing them due to
financial hardship. With God’s vision at the center, PETRA Built was founded.
PETRA Built is a Christian, nondenominational nonprofit organization that partners with homeowners who have fallen into difficult circumstances and need assistance restoring their homes. We prioritize serving individuals who are disabled, victims of natural disasters, and anyone otherwise unable to make essential repairs to ensure their homes meet habitable standards. Our mission is not only to restore and protect property value, but also to create warm, safe, and welcoming spaces that families can be proud to come home to. This work strengthens more than individual households - It uplifts entire communities.
By helping maintain and improve existing homes, we contribute to safer neighborhoods, revitalized streets, and preserved property values in lower income areas. PETRA Built is powered by dedicated volunteers who are passionate about improving living conditions for their neighbors. Local churches, businesses, and community fundraising efforts continue to play a vital role in bringing this mission to life.
Based in Houston, Texas, PETRA Built plans to expand its outreach into additional regions in the
future. We are a taxexempt charity under section 501(c)(3) of the IRS Code.
